Hours: 37 hours per week, Term Time + 10 days (39 weeks + 10 days)

We are seeking an organised, detail-oriented and proactive Finance Officer to join our professional and supportive team.
This is an exciting opportunity for a finance professional who enjoys working in a busy school environment and wants to play a key role in ensuring the effective management of school finances. Working closely with the Strategic Business Manager, you will contribute to the smooth operation of financial processes that support the education and wellbeing of our pupils.
About the Role
The Finance Officer will be responsible for supporting the efficient operation of the school's finances, ensuring compliance with financial regulations and school policies.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Processing daily financial transactions including purchase orders, invoices, banking and accounting entries
2. Managing payments for educational visits and activities
3. Supporting payroll administration and maintaining accurate financial records
4. Processing supplier payments and reconciling school credit card expenditure
5. Managing invoicing and receipting for third-party lettings
6. Supporting month-end reconciliations and management reporting
7. Monitoring contract renewals and procurement activity
8. Maintaining accurate records for grants, donations and pupil bursary payments
9. Managing the finance email inbox and responding to queries promptly
10. Supporting continuous improvement of financial systems and processes
About You
We are looking for someone who:
11. Has experience working in finance and administration
12. Possesses excellent attention to detail and high levels of accuracy
13. Has strong organisational skills and can manage multiple priorities effectively
14. Is confident using Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
15. Can communicate financial information clearly and professionally
16. Demonstrates integrity, discretion and professionalism when handling confidential information
17. Works well both independently and as part of a team
Applicants should hold a relevant finance qualification (such as AAT or Level 2/3 Diploma in School Business Management) or be able to demonstrate equivalent experience. Experience within a school finance environment and knowledge of financial management systems would be advantageous.
