Job Advert
This is an exciting opportunity to join a busy multi‑disciplinary civil engineering team, managing coastal flood and erosion risk on the south coast.
Are you interested in mapping, surveying, or working with data in the real world— not just behind a desk? Do you want to help protect our coastlines, communities, and environment? Then this could be the role for you!
At Coastal Partners, we work on projects that protect over 246 km of coastline from flooding and erosion. We’re a team of engineers, scientists, and surveyors who care about building a safer, more sustainable future—and we’re looking for a Geospatial‑focused Engineering Technician to join us.
Responsibilities
* Work outdoors along the southern coast collecting data on local beaches, sea defences, and coastal features.
* Use tools such as total stations, GNSS, drones, laser scanners, and other survey equipment to take accurate measurements.
* Create maps, 3D models, and drawings using AutoCAD and a variety of survey processing software.
* Act as NEC Site Supervisor to support the supervision of construction sites when required.
* Support all areas of wider team projects as and when required.
Qualifications
* A HNC or related qualification in Surveying, Engineering, Construction, Geography, or a similar field.
* A real interest in maps, geography, surveying, or coastal environments.
* Some basic understanding of AutoCAD, GIS, or digital mapping (training will be provided).
* Good attention to detail, a practical mindset, and willingness to work outdoors in all seasons.
* A full UK driving licence or a commitment to obtain one (fieldwork is a big part of the role).
Benefits
* Salary: Grade D‑F £27,254 to £37,280 per annum, based on experience and qualifications.
* Generous leave allowance.
* Free parking.
* Local Government Pension Scheme.
* Flexible and hybrid working.
* Family‑friendly environment.
