Job Description
CMDP is a joint venture between Costain and MWH Treatment. CMDP+ will secure new AMP8 Capital Programme and deliver critical investment to Water and Wastewater infrastructure across the region including upgrades to Treatment Works, Pumping Stations and Reservoirs. As a Graduate Civil Design Engineer you will be responsible for technical delivery, managing time, cost and quality, and you will acquire technical, leadership and project management skills.
Graduate Development Programme
The programme focuses on personal and leadership development alongside technical skills. Over two years graduates rotate between projects and sectors to broaden experience. Graduates may work on projects across the UK in nuclear, highways, rail, water, airports and tunnels, and will receive mentoring, structured training and support towards Chartership.
Responsibilities
* Work within the Design team to support the delivery of many projects.
* Complete civil engineering design calculations.
* Support design and assessment in a multi‑discipline environment.
* Prepare design risk assessments.
* Maintain files and records throughout contract duration.
* Carry out surveys and site visits.
* Produce clear and well‑presented reports, specifications and engineering documentation.
* Support site operations management to ensure safety, quality and cost effectiveness.
Essential Qualifications and Skills
* Relevant engineering sector experience.
* Passion for Costain’s Carbon Net Zero targets.
* IT proficiency.
* Accuracy, teamwork, learning orientation, positive relationships.
* Strong organisation, communication and time‑management skills.
* Mobility to work on various projects across the UK.
Essential Academic Qualifications
* Higher education – Bachelor’s degree (Mechanical or relevant discipline) grade 2:2 or above.
* Full UK driver’s licence.
* Passion for Costain’s Carbon Net Zero targets.
* Willingness to learn and build relationships.
* Strong organisation, communication and time‑management skills.
* Mobility to work across UK projects.
* Right to work documentation and UK passport required if invited for interview.
* Ability to travel to remote sites where required.
