Job Description
The role will support the European Procurement activities, focusing on cost optimization in CAPEX-related operations, including identifying value generation opportunities through sales of sawn timber products.
This is a European role requiring extensive travel across Europe. As part of our Blue Forest program, this role will implement new procurement strategies to add value while supporting our sustainability and decarbonization goals. We supply our manufacturers with materials, and this role aims to increase control over our buy-to-sell process.
You’ll maintain daily contact and oversee the network of new pallet suppliers across Europe, ensuring cost control and compliance. The manager will interact with suppliers to improve their operations, collaborate with CHEP’s Regional Supply Chain and Timber Sourcing teams to ensure stock availability, reduce waste, and optimize raw material ordering.
Responsibilities:
* Monitor supplier performance, including quality, costs, and compliance.
* Conduct supplier audits for safety, environmental, and ethical standards.
* Collaborate with operations, logistics, and finance teams to align sourcing with organizational goals.
* Analyze market trends and supplier capabilities for improvement opportunities.
* Implement cost-saving initiatives and process improvements.
* Stay updated on industry regulations to ensure compliance.
* Identify external sales opportunities (BF).
* Verify stock levels to support sourcing optimization.
* Analyze production costs to drive cost reductions.
Qualifications:
* Experience in a production environment.
* Willingness to travel regionally and internationally (75%).
* Experience working in international, matrix organizations across cultures.
* Project delivery experience.
* Quality auditing skills (desirable).
* Strong communication and influencing skills.
* Understanding stakeholder drivers and expectations.
* Good interpersonal skills, communication, and listening skills.
* Results-driven with focus on short- and medium-term targets.
* Ability to handle ambiguity and complex interactions at senior levels.
