Your new company A leading independent organisation with a strong reputation for excellence is seeking a skilled Financial Controller to join its senior team. Operating across multiple entities, this organisation is committed to delivering outstanding services supported by robust financial management. Your new role As Financial Controller, you will ensure the effective and resilient day-to-day operation of the Accounts function. Reporting directly to the COO, you will lead on financial accounting across the organisation and its subsidiaries, oversee statutory reporting, and manage key financial processes including invoicing, reconciliations, and audit preparation. Key Responsibilities - Ensure timely and accurate delivery of statutory accounts and monthly financial processes. - Oversee Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Debtors ledger, ensuring ledgers are maintained and reconciled. - Lead the invoicing process in collaboration with internal teams, ensuring accurate data transfer between systems. - Maintain daily bank reconciliations and monthly balance sheet reconciliations. - Support cash flow forecasting and budget reviews alongside the Management Accountant. - Prepare and file quarterly VAT returns and liaise with HMRC on VAT, PAYE, and online returns. - Oversee payroll and pensions processes, including reconciliation and journal input. - Take responsibility for statutory accounts production, audit liaison, and compliance with regulatory requirements. - Maintain financial policies, system administration, and security protocols. - Provide support on ad-hoc projects and annual assessments as required. What you'll need to succeed Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with significant post-qualification experience, or qualified by experience technical knowledge of financial accounting, statutory reporting, and VAT. Proven ability to manage complex ledgers and reconciliations. Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail. Strong communication skills for liaising with internal and external stakeholders. Experience with financial systems such as Sage (or similar) is desirable.
