Adecco are recruiting a highly capable and legally astute Reviews Officer on behalf of our Local Authority client. The successful candidate will undertake statutory reviews of homelessness decisions in accordance with Section 202 of the Housing Act 1996 (as amended). This role is critical in ensuring that the Council's decisions are fair, legally compliant, and robustly defended where challenged.\n\n***Only candidates with extensive Reviews experience will be considered***\n\n***This is a fully remote role with the need to come to the office for IT Kit collection and return only***\n\nHousing Reviews Officer\nPublic Sector - Local Authority \nFull Time - Monday to Friday, 36 hours per week\nTemporary Role - 3 months (possible extension)\n£31 per hour Umbrella\nFully remote\nASAP Start \n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nManage a personal caseload of homelessness and suitability reviews, ensuring compliance with statutory and internal deadlines.\nConduct thorough investigations and issue legally sound decisions under relevant housing legislation.\nLiaise with applicants, legal representatives, medical professionals, and internal departments to gather and assess evidence.\nProvide expert advice and guidance on homelessness legislation and associated legal matters.\nRepresent the Council in legal proceedings, including attendance at court where necessary.\nMaintain accurate records and contribute to the continuous improvement of service delivery.Essential Knowledge:\n\nComprehensive understanding of the Housing Act 1996 Part VII, the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017, and related legislation.\nFamiliarity with associated legal frameworks including the Family Law Act, Children Acts, Human Rights Act, and Equalities Act 2010.Essential Skills and Abilities:\n\nStrong investigative and analytical capabilities.\nExcellent written communication skills, particularly in drafting legally defensible decisions.\nAbility to interpret complex legislation and case law, and to communicate findings clearly to a range of stakeholders.Essential Experience:\n\nSubstantial experience in a housing needs or complaints-based environment, with demonstrable involvement in statutory reviews or legal casework.
