Band 5/6 Physiotherapist – Inpatient Respiratory Physiotherapy Team – Torbay Hospital
Position: 3 x 37.5 hour Band 6 posts within the Inpatient Respiratory Physiotherapy Team. The role includes supporting the pulmonary rehab service and providing outpatient respiratory clinics covering airway clearance and breathing pattern disorders.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide senior leadership to the specialist area and deputise for the Band 7 physiotherapist when required.
* Deliver respiratory care across a variety of settings, including ICU, medical respiratory, surgical respiratory, paediatrics, pulmonary rehab and respiratory clinics.
* Assist in 7‑day service delivery, including working at the weekend once a month and providing on‑call support for Band 5 physiotherapists.
* Act as a source of expertise in the assessment and management of patients with a wide range of respiratory pathologies.
* Educate physiotherapists, physiotherapy students, clinical staff and other healthcare professionals (including GPs, consultants and patient carers) on respiratory management.
* Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team, occupational therapists, and discharge coordinators to develop appropriate patient discharge plans and utilise current discharge services and procedures.
* Provide routine and home‑visit respiratory care for outpatients and inpatients.
Qualifications & Experience
* HCPC registration required.
* Experience in respiratory physiotherapy at Band 5 or Band 6 level preferred, with a proven track record in inpatient settings.
* Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and lead service delivery across multiple clinical rotations.
