Senior Buyer – Derbyshire
Location: Hilton, Derbyshire | Salary: £48,000 – £60,000 + package
I’m working with a well-established civil engineering contractor who are looking for an experienced Senior Buyer to take ownership of plant and material procurement across their projects.
This is a key role within the commercial team, reporting to the Commercial Director, where you’ll be leading supplier negotiations, managing procurement schedules, and ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to specification.
What you’ll be doing:
1. Leading procurement of materials, plant and subcontractors from tender through to delivery
2. Building and maintaining strong supplier relationships, including framework agreements and performance reviews
3. Supporting estimators with pricing and tender submissions
4. Driving efficiencies and improvements across procurement processes
5. Mentoring and supporting an Assistant Buyer
6. Delivering commercial value through negotiation, cost control and supply chain strategy
What we’re looking for:
7. Strong background as a Buyer / Senior Buyer in construction or civils
8. Negotiation and supplier management expertise
9. Commercially sharp with excellent communication skills
10. Ability to work independently while collaborating across teams
11. Leadership skills to guide junior staff
