Lead Electrician – Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital Contract

EQUANS is looking for a Lead Electrician for a permanent full‑time role (40 hours per week) located in Blackburn. The role includes a competitive salary and benefits package.

General Overview

* Ensure compliance with statutory and company procedures, maintaining up‑to‑date knowledge of H&S and environmental regulations.
* Diagnose, fault‑find, commission systems, monitor and assess ongoing machine/facility performance through a Planned Preventive Maintenance programme.
* Assist with installation, commissioning and servicing of plant, equipment and industrial furniture.
* Maintain a professional appearance and represent EQUANS positively.
* Perform planned/reactive maintenance on on‑site systems.
* Work flexible hours, including overtime, and participate in the on‑call rota.
* Administer and complete relevant paperwork.
* Demonstrate a fair, consistent, and courteous attitude in all dealings.
* Work under pressure, take ownership of problems, and resolve them to completion.
* Report all issues to the Technical Services Supervisor/Manager.


Impact

* Carry out electrical planned and reactive maintenance on all on‑site infrastructure.
* Communicate regularly and effectively with clients to ensure smooth business operations.
* Organise allocated works timely and work supportively with the team.
* Submit clear and accurate reports.
* Attend site out of hours on a rotational basis.
* Perform tasks safely, ensuring personal safety and that others are not endangered.
* Help EQUANS meet statutory and contractual obligations while delivering excellent customer service.


Complexity

The maintenance engineer will complete engineering activities and undertake duties suitable for their training and competence. The on‑site Estates Management team provides specialised technical advice and liaises with management to facilitate necessary isolations for engineering works.


Qualifications or Required Experience

* Experience maintaining, servicing and repairing building services (e.g., lighting, low‑voltage distribution, switchgear, emergency standby generators, building management systems).
* Recognised electrical apprenticeship or equivalent qualifications.
* Valid UK driving licence and ability to obtain a DBS check.
* Certified electrician; qualified to IEE 17th/18th edition.
* Testing and certification of electrical installations.
* Basic computer literacy.
* Knowledge of risk assessment and working safely with equipment.
* Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations.
* Experience in a healthcare environment preferred but not essential.
* Ability to follow instructions, work to plans, and report technical information.
* Completed an electrical apprenticeship with relevant qualifications.
* NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
* City & Guilds 2392 – Inspection & Testing or equivalent – desirable.
