Bank Nurse – Physical & Mental Health
We are looking for highly motivated & clinically skilled registered nurses (RN, Diploma of Education (Adult Nursing) or similar) to join our nursing team in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust. The role covers both physical and mental health settings, supporting inpatient and community care across the Trust.
As a valued member of our nursing team, you will be required to support shifts on an internal rotation basis, covering both day and night shifts in accordance with your availability. You will provide high‑standard, patient‑focused care, applying the nursing process and evidence‑based best practice. You will act as a link nurse, promoting reflective practice and ensuring timely discharge planning.
Job Responsibilities
* In partnership with the multidisciplinary team, use evidence-based best practice and clinical knowledge to assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing interventions to meet patient needs.
* Ensure delivery of high-quality, patient-focused care and treatment, aligning with the Essence of Care and Standards for Better Health principles.
* Set Expected Date of Discharge (EDD) through collaborative negotiation ensuring safe and effective discharge.
* Participate in quality initiatives such as the Productive Ward Project and Essence of Care Benchmarking.
* Adhere to Trust risk assessment, risk management and infection control policies and procedures.
* Promote reflective practice within the team and take appropriate action when gaps in knowledge or practice arise.
* Act as a link nurse within the Clinical Commissioning Group or other relevant body.
* Maintain current registration with the NMC and other professional bodies.
* Provide patients and families/carers with information on expected standards of care.
* Participate in emergency preparedness processes relevant to your team.
Person Specification
Qualifications (Essential)
* Registered Nurse (RN), Diploma of Education (Adult Nursing) or similar.
Experience (Essential)
* Experience working with patients with physical or mental health issues.
* Experience coordinating a team of care staff.
* Professional curiosity and a willingness to learn.
Desirable (Experience)
* Experience working within a rehabilitation setting.
* Experience working with older people.
Skills and Abilities (Essential)
* Range of clinical skills.
* Understanding of multidisciplinary team (MDT).
* Knowledge of elderly care and rehabilitation principles.
* Excellent communication skills.
Skills and Abilities (Desirable)
* Venepuncture.
* Wound care.
Other Requirements
This role is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 – disclosure and barring service checks will be required.

Salary
£32,073 to £39,043 per annum (pro rata).
