Job Title: Engineering Manager - Materials Technology (Materials Testing)
Location: Barrow-in-Furness- onsite

What you'll be doing:
* Develop and maintain materials management policies for the Astute, Dreadnought and SSNA submarine programmes
* Overseeing a team of people that run the materials laboratory who are responsible for testing and reporting of materials assessments
* Lead and oversee machine shop operations, ensuring team performance and production targets are met
* Provide leadership in the planning, preparation, and assessment of weld / welder qualification tests, maintaining high standards of quality and compliance
* Assist in material failure investigations through sample preparation and analysis
* Manage workplace Risk Assessments through direct ownership and liaising with peers in the MTC
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
* Degree educated or equivalent in an engineering discipline
* Proven people leadership skills is essential, with prior experience in leading a team
Desirable:
* Previous experience managing a team within a Lab environment
* Background in mechanical and manufacturing disciplines
* Materials Testing experience advantageous

The Materials Technology Centre Team:
The Materials Technology Centre provides leadership, governance and assurance for all materials used in UK submarine build programmes. Materials assurance is attained through test and evaluation activities, as well as defect investigations, to ensure the integrity of the materials used for submarine build programmes meet Design Intent. We offer relocation support packages across all Submarines roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
