Our Role
The Head of Logistics is responsible for leading all functions within the supply chain to ensure a cost effective, timely and constant flow of stock from suppliers to our customers worldwide, across direct, retail, wholesale and B2B channels. The role will collaborate across the wider business (including merchandising, digital, retail, finance, people team) to ensure the function performs and meets business needs.
The key deliverable for the first year is to manage the corrective action plan for the GXO 3PL DC operation in Nothampton ready for Peak ’26. This will involve being on site a minimum two days a week working in collaboration with the GXO team enabling and ensuring the action plan is managed weekly and reported on monthly to the TWC Operating Board.
Overall, the role involves managing day-to-day operations, supplier relationships, continuous improvement initiatives, and strategic planning while demonstrating strong leadership and communication skills. This position is a pivotal role within TWC and as such forms part of the business wide Senior Leadership Team (SLT) structure.
What you’ll be doing
Day-to-Day Management Responsibilities:
1. GXO 3PL DC operation, service and cost set KPIs
2. Oversee the end-to-end daily operations, ensuring smooth execution, aligning with the trading plan
3. Develop and manage operational plans for inbound and despatch customer channels
4. Monitor and manage each contract to meet agreed Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), focusing on cost, service, and speed
5. Coordinate and facilitate communication and collaboration with head office departments to ensure alignment and efficiency to trading plan requirements
6. Deliver annual service KPIs and financial budget for Logistics (c. £30 million) across DC
operations, internet carriers, freight, transport and consumables
7. Hold overall contractual responsibility for all third-party relationships within the supply chain, build and maintain strong working relationships with all providers, including freight, transport & carrier management including import, exports, customs and duty
8. Achieve industry-leading service KPIs, collaborating with Digital, Retail, and Customer teams to enhance customer experience across all channels.
9. Establish robust operational plans for the supply chain, incorporating contingencies to address potential challenges
10. Lead the tender process for all supply chain contracts, ensuring fair and balanced evaluations based on a balanced scorecard of financial, commercial, technical, and sustainable credentials.
Strategy
11. Own the design and delivery of the supply chain strategy, identifying capacity, process and equipment constraints and identifying solutions for the next 5 years and beyond
12. Optimize lead time from factory to DC – working with B&M and all sales channels and agreed partners to maximise the efficiencies of consolidation, freight costs and availability
· To compile long-term capacity plans to support the business plan growth
13. Sets the programme to drive continuous improvement in all areas of the operation
14. Selects and builds positive working relationships with key service partners, to provide service in line with the customer promise and costs within an agreed framework
15. Takes full control of the Operations P&L, including capex proposals and requisitions
What skills & experience you’ll need
16. Experience in a Head of Supply Chain & Logistics role, demonstrating change management capability s
17. Lead a team of five direct reports and their respective teams fostering a can do inclusive culture
18. Specifically:- Proficient in warehouse management, including business processes, WMS, and efficiency management through KPIs in an outsourced environment. Expertise in freight procurement across air, road, and sea, with the ability to track global prices and ensure freight forwarding price efficiency. Experience managing domestic and international carriers, ensuring service delivery aligns with cost and service expectations. Familiarity with carrier software such as Sorted or Metapack. Proficient in contract management, including tender contract structure, review processes, KPI management, and reporting.
