Detailed job description and main responsibilities The Job Plan is annualised to 10 PA's. This means that the individual appointed will be expected to deliver 8 sessions of DCC per week.The post-holder will have regular elective day case operating sessions, outpatient clinics, endoscopy lists and inpatient operating lists. They will be across all of our sites (Queens Medical Centre, City Hospital and Treatment Centre). These will sit within the Colorectal Surgery specialty, overseen by the Head of Colorectal. Some of these commitments will be out of work-day hours e.g. evenings and weekends. The Unit will actively support the development of subspecialist interests in line with the vision for colorectal surgery at NUH and provision for this will be made via individualised training opportunities. Person specification Professional Registration Essential criteria Full registration with the GMC Eligible to be included on the Specialist Register OR Within 6 months of achieving CCT at the time of interview Qualifications/Development Essential criteria MBBS; FRCS(Gen.Surg) or equivalent Desirable criteria Higher degree (PhD, MD, MSc) Clinical Skills/Experience Essential criteria Relevant General Surgical and colorectal emergency and elective operative experience Consultant level experience in managing emergency general surgery and colorectal on call in a tertiary referral centre Demonstrated interest and experience in coloproctology day case operating Teaching, Audit & Research Essential criteria Evidence of participation in Clinical audit Able to teach and support junior staff effectively Desirable criteria Original research Publications Experience and enthusiasm for undergraduate and postgraduate teaching Please note that this post does not attract relocation expenses.
