Housing and Benefit Assistant

Purpose of the Role
As part of the housing management team, you will support the Tenancy Liaison Officer in delivering a high‑quality service to tenants, promoting their wellbeing and ensuring compliance with housing and benefits policies.
Role Responsibilities
* Support tenants to maintain tenancy agreements, address complaints and issue warnings for breaches.
* Assist tenants with setting up utilities in self‑contained flats and resolve related issues.
* Report property repairs and support maintenance.
* Understand and apply the principles of REACH standards (Supported Living services) and Iris Care Group values.
* Deliver support for financial benefits including UC, ESA, PIP, DLA, pensions and pension credits.
* Apply for TV concessionary licences for supported living services.
* Help tenants apply for SMI council tax exemption forms.
* Communicate with our Housing Association partner and relevant stakeholders on tenancy‑related matters and benefits.
* Collaborate across directorates to provide seamless service to residents and colleagues.
* Represent Iris Care Group to external professionals, families, carers and the public, safeguarding the organisation’s reputation.
Role Requirements
* Knowledge of supported living services and housing management policies (rents, voids, lettings, tenancies, repairs).
* Good knowledge of the housing sector and tenancy management.
* Good knowledge of benefits, including Universal Credit and Housing Benefit.
* Experience working with individuals with disabilities.
* ICT literate; proficient with MS Office and database systems.
* Strong numeracy and literacy; able to write clear and concise letters and reports.
* Full UK driver’s licence and reliable vehicle access.
* Willingness to travel and flexibly meet the needs of the role.
