What You'll Do
Reporting to the Business Development Director, you will be responsible for leading & managing bids and tender submissions for the Transport business. Managing and leading a Bid Team based in Warwick and London, you will plan the necessary resources to bid for opportunities as agreed with the Business Development Director. You will have full responsibility for ensuring that resources are utilised effectively & efficiently across the business to maximise opportunities the business decides to pursue.
You will seek to constantly improve the quality of bids, ensuring that best practice approaches to developing and producing bids are always pursued. You will continually monitor the costs being incurred by the business throughout the Bid process and will seek ongoing improvement in telent's "return on bid investment". Developing relationships with existing and potential customers including site-based meetings and presentations. Accountability for Bid team performance, KPIs, and SLAs. You will be accountable for ensuring the end-to-end management & production of timely, high-quality, and ultimately successful bids in keeping with telent's bid procedures. This includes leading and developing bid winning strategies, producing material from Go/No Go stage through to deal review, bid submission, and post-bid support, including proposal preparation. Managing bid team workload planning, bid forecasting, cost and win/loss tracking & reporting. Conducting bid reviews—won & lost—with recommendations for improvement. Ensuring telent's Bid wiki (Bid library) is updated and maintained.
Who you are
Skills
* Extensive experience managing and leading a high-performing bid team, driving efficiencies, reviews, and continual improvement to increase bid success rate.
* Experience leading and producing winning bids for the Public Sector in markets such as Traffic, Rail, Intelligent Transport Systems, Defence, and Emergency Services.
* Strong project management and organisational skills.
* Financial acumen with the ability to interpret financial reports and models.
* Broad understanding of Traffic, Rail, Telecommunications, and IT products, technologies, and services, including operational, commercial, and financial aspects.
* APMP or equivalent qualification with demonstrable bid wins and best practices.
* Proven ability to write and review tender answers to a winning standard.
* Strong Microsoft Office skills.
* Experience with ITT quality and cost response writing and financial skills.
* Proven experience leading and delivering high and medium-value bids, ideally in a services or solutions environment.
* Excellent interpersonal, persuasive, and influencing skills at all levels.
* Ability to identify customer business problems and develop commercial propositions.
* Leadership skills with experience building high-performing bid teams.
* Excellent communication skills at all organizational levels.
* Positive, ownership-driven attitude with accountability and resilience.
* Ability to work independently while maintaining a team-oriented approach and strong relationships.
* High emotional intelligence.
