Overview
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the post of Assistant Teaching Professor in Manufacturing Engineering. The successful candidate will join the Engineering Department's Manufacturing and Management Division (also known as the Institute for Manufacturing) to develop and deliver teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in core topics related to Manufacturing Engineering.
The successful candidate will work with academic colleagues across IfM and the wider Engineering Department to collaboratively develop and deliver teaching spanning the technological and management aspects of Manufacturing Engineering. The successful candidate will need to be comfortable operating within the very industrially engaged context of the Institute for Manufacturing (IfM).
The IfM takes a broad view of manufacturing engineering, one that spans the whole process of converting ideas and opportunities into products and systems that improve lives. The IfM works across the full stack of manufacturing activities including technologies and processes, systems, organisations, and broader ecosystems.
Responsibilities
* Contribute to IfM\'s teaching for the Manufacturing Engineering Tripos (MET), MPhil in Industrial Systems, Manufacture and Management (ISMM), and selected aspects of the Engineering Tripos.
* Deliver teaching duties that span lectures, assessments, industrial visits with students, setting up and supervising industrial projects, and supervising dissertation projects.
* Collaborate with academic colleagues across IfM and the Engineering Department to deliver teaching that covers technological and management aspects of Manufacturing Engineering.
* Actively contribute to the wider work of the IfM and Engineering Department, including support for operational and outreach activities.
Location and terms
The position is based in the Engineering Department's Manufacturing and Management Division / Institute for Manufacturing on the University\'s Cambridge West Campus.
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 5 years in the first instance.
