Join to apply for the Credit Analyst role at Heartland Bank LTD
Looking to break away from the mainstream and bring your talent to something exciting? Heartland Bank is on a dynamic growth journey and we're expanding our rural team—creating an opportunity for a passionate Rural Credit Analyst to join us in Christchurch. If you're ready to make a real impact in a specialist bank that values innovation, agility, and heart, we’d love to hear from you.
Is this your next role?
The Credit Analyst will support and work collaboratively with Rural Managers, Credit Managers and the National Manager - Rural (and other Credit Analysts as required from time to time) by writing rural/agri credit applications. Comprehensively analyse rural credit proposals and financial accounts, perform due diligence, and make recommendations regarding the viability and structure of loan requests, variations and annual reviews.
Does this sound like you?
We're looking for someone who lives and breathes the rural sector—an experienced Rural Credit Analyst with sharp financial analysis skills and a practical, customer-first mindset. You thrive in fast-paced environments, deadline-driven, collaborate seamlessly across teams, and bring valuable insights that challenge and improve outcomes. With a keen eye for detail, natural curiosity, and a drive to get things right the first time, you're ambitious, analytical, and always ready to roll up your sleeves to make things happen.
What You’ll Need
* Tertiary qualification in finance, agribusiness, accounting, economics, or a related field (desirable).
* 2-3 years’ experience of strong financial analysis and modelling for rural credit/lending, with the proven ability to interpret financial statements, assess creditworthiness and document sound lending decisions tailored to rural customer’s unique needs.
* Strong rural sector passion, knowledge and commercial awareness (especially in the areas of sheep, beef and dairy sectors).
* Analytical and detail-orientated mindset, with a natural curiosity and strong attention to detail in identifying risks and spotting trends to ensure accuracy of credit assessments.
* Ability to collaborate across teams and deliver practical, customer-focused solutions that meet all stakeholder needs and good customer outcomes.
