All engineers must hold their own insurance, calibrate their equipment at least once a year, and provide an up‑to‑date City & Guilds 2377 (or equivalent) qualification. In return, we supply an engineer handbook, a contract for services, branded clothing, labels, and technical support. We'll discuss salary when you book a job.
Job Description
JR PAT Testing is an expanding PAT and Compliance Company currently looking for engineers to join our team in Camborne. The role is fully self‑employed, offers flexible hours, and can be performed part‑time or full‑time.
Jobs range from one‑day projects to long‑term contracts. Earnings are pro‑rated based on the number of tests, rate per appliance, and job dynamics.
Applicants must have a reasonable commuting distance to Camborne (or be willing to travel nationally) and a reliable means of transport.
Typical day of a portable appliance testing (PAT) engineer
* Pack all necessary tools and equipment into the van before heading to the first job.
* At each site, test appliances (e.g., microwaves, kettles, computers) using appropriate instruments, ensuring they meet safety regulations.
* Record findings in a PAT test report book or electronically, and provide employers with copies.
* Fill out additional paperwork such as completion certificates and checklists.
* Move between sites, either alone or with a team, keeping tests accurate and efficient.
Responsibilities and Expectations
* Conduct PAT testing in a variety of environments, including hospitals, retail outlets, and offices.
* Inform users of results and explain any required repairs or replacements.
* Maintain equipment and records in good working order, adhering to relevant regulations.
* Be reliable, honest, and exhibit a can‑do attitude.
