Job Title: Senior CAD Operator
Location: UK – Homebased/The Acre, Covent Garden
About The Role
We’re hiring a Senior CAD Operator to prepare technical drawings and illustrations for inclusion in National, European and International Standards publications where BSI is the responsible body, according to drawing standards. In this role you will offer a graphic design service to other parts of British Standards to enhance products both in hard copy and online. Ensuring that all work items allocated by Drawing Office Supervisor are completed on time and according to customers’ requirements.
Key Responsibilities
* To liaise with internal/external customers agreeing on delivery dates for work items, the progression of all work from submission to delivery and adherence to agreed schedules, pre‑set service levels, and policy.
* To plan, coordinate and schedule the workload of the department, allocating work and overseeing the progress of graphics work items, updating the Drawing Office Supervisor where appropriate.
* Ensure that all drawings and illustrations conform to the relevant standards and templates, advise Programme Managers, Technical Project Editors and Content Developers on matters of drawing and text policy and house style.
* To assist in the development and implementation of improvements to existing work practices and procedures, enhancing the quality of service to internal/external customers.
* To develop operating plans for the Drawing Office in conjunction with the Drawing Office Supervisor.
* Ensure that work items are stored and archived appropriately, take responsibility for the maintenance of the DO archived Central Filing system.
About You
* Previous experience within a similar role.
* Experience with CAD, Photoshop, Adobe, Illustrator, 2D/3D drawings.
* Working knowledge of industrial drawings.
* Ability to manage multiple projects and maintain high quality.
* Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with key stakeholders.
* Excellent attention to detail.
* Customer focus with the ability to answer queries effectively.
