The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Group Operations Manager to take responsibility for the operational leadership of both companies. This is a senior position, reporting directly to the Managing Director, and is critical to ensuring our services are delivered efficiently, safely, and profitably across a large geographic footprint.
The Group Operations Manager will line manage all Service Team Managers across gas, plumbing, retrofit, and renewables, as well as the Office Manager who oversees administration, scheduling, and compliance reporting.
Key Responsibilities
* Report directly to the Managing Director on operational strategy, performance, and compliance.
* Lead and line manage all Service Team Managers and the Office Manager.
* Oversee operations across Yorkshire, Humberside, the North East, and the North West.
* Drive efficiency in scheduling, resource allocation, and service delivery.
* Ensure full compliance with Gas Safe, HSE, PAS 2035, Building Regulations, and industry standards.
* Promote a strong health and safety culture, including audits, risk assessments, and incident reporting.
* Manage budgets, forecasting, and reporting against operational KPIs.
* Support business development and strategic growth initiatives in partnership with the Board of Directors.
* Oversee recruitment, training, and performance management of both office-based and field-based staff.
* Act as senior escalation point for operational and client service matters across all regions.
Essential Criteria
* Significant experience as an Operations, Regional, or Group Manager within the gas, renewables, or construction industries.
* Strong knowledge of gas compliance frameworks, renewable energy systems, and retrofit standards such as PAS 2030/2035.
* Proven ability to manage a multi-disciplinary workforce, including Service Team Managers, engineers, and office staff.
* Excellent working knowledge of health and safety legislation and compliance requirements.
* Demonstrable commercial acumen with a track record of budget management and KPI delivery.
* Outstanding leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
* IT literate with strong experience in Microsoft Office and job management systems.
* Willingness to travel regionally across Yorkshire, Humberside, the North East, and the North West.
* Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable Criteria
* Chartered Management qualification or similar leadership accreditation.
* Health & Safety qualifications such as NEBOSH or IOSH Managing Safely.
* Knowledge of ECO4, GBIS, or government retrofit programmes.
* Experience managing operations across multiple business units or group structures.
* Background in contract management, negotiation, and insurance-backed works.
* Training in change management, leadership, or strategic planning.
* Based in Barnsley / South Yorkshire or within commuting distance.
