Finance Manager (6-Month FTC)
Location: Just outside Peterborough (moving to Peterborough in the New Year)
Salary: £50,000 - £55,000 per annum
Contract: Full-time, Fixed Term (6 months)
Working pattern: On-site, 5 days a week (non-negotiable)
Robert Half are delighted to be partnering with our client, a well-established business based just outside Peterborough, who are seeking an experienced Qualified Accountant (CIMA or ACCA) to join them on a 6-month fixed-term contract. The role will be office-based, with the business set to relocate to Peterborough in the New Year.
The Role
This is a hands-on role requiring strong technical accounting knowledge alongside the ability to support and mentor a junior member of the team. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing payroll processes, month-end, and balance sheet reconciliations, while also supporting the Assistant Finance Business Partner to build their confidence and knowledge.
Key Responsibilities
1. Take full ownership of the company payroll process, including:
Collating and validating information (e.g. overtime, sickness reports, adjustments).
Inputting and checking payroll data within the payroll system.
Liaising with and validating reports from external payroll providers.
2. Lead the month-end process, including:
Preparing and reviewing accruals, prepayments, and balance sheet reconciliations.
Ensuring accuracy and timely completion of reporting requirements.
3. Mentor and train the Assistant Finance Business Partner, providing guidance to ensure they are able to independently manage month-end processes and payroll in the future.
The Candidate
4. Qualified Accountant (CIMA or ACCA) with at least 5+ years' post-qualified experience.
5. Strong technical knowledge of payroll and month-end processes.
6. Proven experience managing payroll systems and working with external payroll providers.
7. Previous experience mentoring, training, or supporting junior finance team members.
8. Confident, detail-oriented, and able to thrive in a fully on-site environment.
