You’ll be supported with personalised on the job training, coaching, mentoring and twice-yearly development and performance reviews to help maintain & develop your contributions and competence. Key Responsibilities The Electrical, Controls and Instrument Technician is responsible for the repair and maintenance of all EC&I assets. You will be responsible for the Inspection, Maintenance and testing of all Control and Instrumentation systems within the TeesREP power plant. You will carry out calibrations on EC&I equipment and components which will include repairing, tuning, and replacement of EC&I Components. The EC&I Technician will be required to carry out troubleshooting and repairs on the plant Distributed Control System (DCS), PLC’s and all related equipment. In this role you will support other disciplines within the Operations, Engineering and Maintenance Departments to ensure the safe and efficient reliability of the plant. You will ensure all work activities you carry out comply with the site Health, Safety and Environmental procedures and all legislative obligations. You will also have responsibilities with work activities overseeing contractors on site ensuring a safe and efficient working environment. This role will require you to respond to plant and equipment breakdowns both during shift working hours with a potential to extend outside normal working hours for critical operations. Key responsibilities: To complete installation, calibrations, adjustments, troubleshooting and repairs on various types of power plant EC&I Equipment and DCS, PLC control systems. Provide consistently high levels of supervision of contractors at the site. Uses test equipment including, but not limited to: field communicators, calibrators, voltmeters, ammeters, phase indicators, multi-function testers, and oscilloscopes, and able to calibrate Controllers. Ensure that all controls are operating and calibrated according to the manufacturer specifications and ensure they have been documented. Through research, prescribe preventative maintenance requirements for all EC&I equipment for validation by engineering. Conduct preventive maintenance of EC&I Assets and assure the quality of executing all PM tasks including recording detailed information in the CMMS. Assist Engineering and Maintenance Engineers in troubleshooting and investigation of equipment trips. Also, attend critical equipment startups if required by the Operations Department. Skills, Knowledge and Expertise Qualified to NVQ Level 3 or equivalent apprentice served technician in a relevant Electrical, Control and Instrumentation (EC&I) discipline; HNC desirable. CompEx certification to EX01-EX06 standards with regards to Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres regulations is preferred. A good understanding of functional safety requirements and Proof Testing techniques used to complete validation and corrective works on Safety Instrumented Functions. Strong background of working hands-on with DCS, PLC and SCADA systems including version control management, access restrictions and testing. Preferably experience with Siemens, Schneider and ABB platforms. A foundational understanding of Alarm Management practices.
