Occupational Therapy Assistant - Acute Stroke Therapy Team EDGH
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Occupational Therapy Assistant to work within our Acute Stroke team at Eastbourne District General Hospital.
As part of this role, you will work within a team of Occupational Therapists providing a high level of acute rehabilitation to patients admitted following an acute stroke.
You will be required to work alongside the therapists and autonomously carrying out exercise and maintenance programmes. Your role will also involve you supporting with both group and rehabilitation sessions planned by a therapist.
As part of the Acute Stroke therapy department, you will be joining a large supportive team passionate about caring for the residents of East Sussex. You will have the opportunity to attend an in-service training programme and complete supervision sessions with your line manager.
You may be responsible for supporting with the completion of data inputting and assisting with the ordering of equipment through the Millbrook system to ensure timely discharge for patients across the trust.

Main duties of the job
* To assist registered practitioners in supporting patients with a rehabilitation programme, promoting independence and supporting active recovery.
* To work as part of an multi-disciplinary team providing therapeutic care as delegated by the registered practitioner(s).
* To work closely with patients and their families/carers under distant supervision of the registered practitioners providing accurate feedback to the appropriate practitioner(s).
* This is a full-time role working 37.5hours per week

Qualifications
* Good level of general education including A levels and GCSE or equivalents including functional skills level 2
* An advanced / higher level apprenticeship for example AP apprenticeship or similar and / or NVQ level 4 in relevant subject or equivalent level of knowledge and experience
* GCSE grade 4 or GCSE C and above
* Level 2 functional skills or health care support worker apprenticeship / NVQ level 2 in relevant subject
* Level 3 apprenticeship for example senior health care support worker or similar and / or NVQ level 3 in relevant subject or equivalent level of knowledge and experience
* Care certificate
Experience
* Experience in health or social care settings such as employment, work experience volunteering or placements
* Demonstrate the values of the NHS and commitment to personal and professional development
Skills
* Demonstrating respect, kindness and empathy at all times
* Understanding of role boundaries and the importance of supervision and carrying out appropriately delegated tasks.
