We have an exciting opportunity for a Repair & Maintenance (R&M) Technician to join Thames Water permanently.
This position will be responsible for R&M across our South London network, with occasional travel to North London when required.
What you’ll be doing as a R&M Technician
You will be the Leader of a two-person R&M Team. Ensuring that all work undertaken is completed to the correct safety and quality standards.
Base location: South London (Area 5) – You can be based out of Darenth (DA27SR) or Brixton (SW21SB), but will be required to travel for work around the Crystal Palace & Croydon area.
Working pattern: 45 hours a week on a shift pattern, including a standby rota for which you will receive additional payment.
What should you bring to the role?
To thrive in this role, the essential criteria you’ll need is:
1. Full UK Driving Licence and Street works (NRSWA)/SSSTS qualification required.
2. You will have experience or training in repair and maintenance in the water industry.
3. You must be able to meet the physical demands of the role with the ability to work outdoors in all weathers.
4. Use your initiative and problem-solve where repairs are required.
5. Have strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical messages simply.
6. Have a can-do, positive attitude, remaining open to new ideas and change.
7. Be self-motivated and confident in completing tasks to the best of your ability.
Additional skills and experiences would be great to have/bring:
8. Advantageous if you have an EUSR Water Hygiene card, Service Avoidance L2 and/or a First Aid qualification.
What’s in it for you?
9. Offering a salary from £34,300 per annum, depending on skills and experience.
10. Annual Leave: 24 days holiday per year, increasing to 28 with the length of service. (plus bank holidays)
11. Van and Full PPE will be provided.
12. Performance Related Pay Plan (PRPP): Max (of salary) = 6%. On target (of salary) = 3%.
13. Pension: Maximum of 12% - 2x employee contribution.
