Overview
Millom Community Hospital is seeking a flexible dedicated Health Care Assistant to join the 9-bed in-patient unit on a 22.5 hour permanent contract with internal rotation of shifts.
Shift times are 07:00-15:00, 15:00-20:00, 12:00-20:00 and 19:30-07:30. The shifts will include weekends.
Responsibilities
* Provide care to patients with a variety of health conditions and support all care needs.
* Support and report to the qualified nurse in charge of the shift and carry out the nurse\'s requests to achieve a high standard of care for all patients.
* Deliver a high standard of patient care, including assistance with activities of daily living.
* Complete documentation in line with trust policies and use the trust IT systems.
* Provide basic nursing care to in-patients.
* Act appropriately in emergencies.
* Keep up to date with mandatory training.
* Maintain a clean, tidy ward that is well stocked.
* Use IT systems to maintain a high standard of documentation.
* Training and support can be provided to build on the candidate\'s experience using the trust TMS training system.
Qualifications and Experience
* Experience working in a health care setting is preferred.
* Ability to provide patient care with a variety of health conditions and work under the supervision of a nurse in charge.
About the Trust and Locations
* We operate from three main hospitals: Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal.
* We also work with Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre, among other community facilities.
* All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day-case and inpatient surgery, with additional local outreach services and diagnostics across Morecambe Bay.
