As a Social Worker within the Family Safeguarding team, you’ll work 18.5 hours per week, supporting children and families across the community. What you will do
* Deliver outcome-focused social work that improves the lives of children and families.
* Implement the Family Saf safeguarding model, aligning practice with Team Wigan values.
* Identify risks and strengths to support children’s safety and long-term wellbeing.
* Conduct holistic, child-centred assessments and ensure children’s voices are consistently heard and acted upon.
* Manage complex caseloads with personalised direct work strategies.
* Partner with Early Help, education, health, police, and voluntary services to provide integrated support.
* Keep precise case records using Liquid Logic, maintaining clarity and accountability.
* Represent the council in court proceedings when necessary.
* Actively contribute to service development, sharing feedback and best practices.
* Maintain registration with Social Work England and uphold high standards of ethical and professional conduct.
* Manage data responsibly, complying with GDPR and data retention policies.
Qualifications and requirements
* Current registration with Social Work England.
* Ability to deliver child-centred assessments and work within the Family Safeguarding model.
* Experience in managing complex caseloads and collaborating with multi-agency partners.
* Proficiency with case management systems (e.g., Liquid Logic).
* Willingness to participate in service development and ongoing professional development.
* Commitment to professional and ethical standards in line with governing bodies.
* Understanding of GDPR and data retention policies.
