Job Description:
Are you a recent Graduate looking to further your experience with mental health? Are you passionate about making a meaningful impact on the lives of children with special educational needs (SEN)? Are you eager to work in a rewarding and friendly environment where no two days are the same?
Then look no further!
A Special Needs School for children with disabilities is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Graduate to join their team as an SEN Teaching Assistant. This is the perfect opportunity for a recent graduate looking to gain experience working with individuals with learning difficulties and mental health challenges.
Within your role, you will support children aged 3 to 18 with a range of additional needs, including Autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, learning difficulties, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, and physical disabilities. Working with such a range of ages and abilities will give you comprehensive insight into how to cater to each child's needs and tailor your approach in the classroom.
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play an integral role in ensuring all pupils are supported both emotionally and academically. You will help them with their education, such as Maths and English, and also equip pupils with life skills they will use long into the future. This includes teaching fundamental social skills, interpersonal skills, and independent living skills. The school adopts a unique approach to learning, incorporating lessons in art, music, cooking, and outdoor education.
As a recent university graduate, this is an excellent opportunity to further your experience in SEN and mental health. If you have a degree in Psychology or Criminology, you can utilize your knowledge in classroom scenarios. Most importantly, you'll gain valuable first-hand experience to pursue careers as a Psychologist, Counsellor, Therapist, or Teacher in the future!
