Are you an experienced charity finance leader with strong management accounting expertise? Do you enjoy improving reporting processes and creating more meaningful financial insight? Are you confident leading year-end while managing a small finance team within a collaborative organisation?
A small charity is seeking an Interim Head of Finance to join on a 6-9 month fixed-term contract. This is a broad and hands-on leadership role with responsibility for management reporting, year-end and improving the organisation's reporting capability.
The role offers hybrid working, with two days per week required in the Central London office.
Please note: prior charity sector experience is essential.
Key responsibilities will include:
1. Leading and managing a small finance team of two staff members
2. Taking ownership of the monthly management accounting process
3. Producing accurate and insightful financial reporting for senior stakeholders
4. Leading the year-end process and supporting audit preparation
5. Reviewing and improving the reporting suite, helping simplify and streamline reporting outputs
6. Supporting the wider organisation with financial analysis and ad hoc reporting requirements
7. Using reporting tools to enhance visibility and improve decision-making across the organisation
The successful candidate will have:
8. Essential: Previous charity sector experience
9. Strong experience producing management accounts and leading year-end processes
10. Previous experience managing finance staff within a small or medium-sized organisation
11. Excellent Excel skills, including the ability to work confidently with large and complex datasets
12. Experience using Power BI and Power Query would be highly desirable
13. A proactive and solutions-focused mindset, with the ability to improve processes and reporting outputs
14. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with non-finance stakeholders
