Looking for a research technician role in microbiology, exploring bacterial sensing, interactions, and a bit of biochemistry—while working with a great team at a top university?
We are inviting applicants to join the team. The post is funded by the Biotechnology and Biological Research Council (BBSRC) to investigate the biochemistry and regulatory aspects of bacterial secretion and competition systems. This post is funded for 13 months.

You will work closely with a team of scientists and clinical researchers with particular focus on Pseudomonas aeruginosa and other microbes that cause respiratory infections. This project will draw on molecular genetics, biochemistry, protein purification, microbial and cell models to perform innovative science and reveal mechanistic insight into these systems. This will be a mostly research wet lab role in a team environment. You will be in a supportive and nurturing environment where we want you to succeed.
1. Enthusiastic BSc/MSc scientist with strengths and experience in microbiology or biochemistry or related discipline
2. Essential to have lab-based skills in molecular microbiology, biochemistry and/or protein purification
3. Demonstratable laboratory experience in techniques like bacterial growth, PCR, western blot analysis and/or protein purification
4. Team player who openly collaborates and enjoys disseminating knowledge locally and though international presentations and leading journal publications
5. Maintain highly organised/accurate records
6. Organisational/time management/computer skills
7. Good communication skills
