• Assist the Head of Service and Clinical Lead to develop and adapt the service according to changing criteria and demographics.

• Assist the Head of Service and Clinical Lead to manage changes in practice and establish new systems of working when necessary.

• Act as a point of contact for more junior staff within the service.


• Provide clinical supervision within specialist area(s)


• Mentor and / or act as supervisor for trainee staff as required


• In conjunction with the Head of Service and Clinical Lead be responsible for leading aspects of a sub-section of the service

Person specification

Education/Qualification

Essential criteria

1. MSc in Audiology or equivalent plus CAAC or STP
2. BSc Audiology or BTEC qualification in Medical Physics and Physiological Measurement & Successfully completed both parts of BAAT I and II (Or equivalent)
3. Evidence of CPD
4. Eligible/registered as a clinical scientist with HPC or on the voluntary register with RCCP

Desirable criteria

5. Advanced courses in Audiology
6. British Sign Language Qualifications
7. Deaf Awareness qualifications
8. Membership of BAA and/or BSA

Experience

Essential criteria

9. NHS experience within paediatric audiology, including behavioural and electrophysiological assessment and (re)habilitation.
10. Working within the NHS Paedaitric Audiology Service

Desirable criteria

11. Ability to independently perform ABR testing.

Knowledge

Essential criteria

12. Theoretical and practical knowledge of Paediatric Audiology
13. Significant experience of working in an NHS setting or equivalent
14. Advanced Audiological test techniques; including assessment of children with complex needs and complex ABR.

Desirable criteria

15. An awareness of national Audiology and NHS developments.
