Overview
To contribute to the provision of health care to the patients of Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board, by providing confidential and comprehensive secretarial service to the consultant and associated team within the consultant's speciality. Following appropriate systems, procedures, policies and processes, ensuring efficient and accurate typing skills are performed and that timely communication is carried out to allow the patients to experience a smooth journey at all times. This post is a permanent position working in the Colorectal Department, Prince Charles Hospital. Assist the Medical Secretary within the Colorectal Team by providing direct support within the consultant and nursing colorectal teams.
Responsibilities include routine typing/audio typing of clinical correspondence, managing the Consultant\'s diaries, prioritising results, and organising clinical activity. Liaise with patients, GPs and outside Health Boards to provide treatment and care. Carry out routine office tasks (eg photocopying, scanning, filing, shredding, distribution of documents) and process information on a sensitive and confidential basis. Request patient notes as required for complaints and serious incidences. Adhere to University Health Board policies and procedures. Open, sort and circulate mail to appropriate staff, ensuring timely handling. Receive all incoming internal and external calls, dealing with them or diverting to appropriate personnel. Manage electronic diary and arrange any meetings as appropriate.

Requirements
* Confidential secretarial support experience within a healthcare setting is implied by the role.
* Efficient typing skills and ability to perform accurate typing and correspondence.
* Diary management and ability to prioritise clinical activity.
* Strong liaison skills with patients, GPs and external health Boards.
* Proficient with routine office tasks and handling confidential information.
* Ability to follow policies and procedures and work within a team in the Colorectal Department.
