Main duties of the job
* Provision of a quality service, demonstrating reliability in completing medication drug histories and skill in non-routine tasks e.g. advising patients/carers on medication issues or handling routine drug queries within communities and GPs
* Development of and participation in Community Mental Health Team duties to include medicines reconciliation, assessment of PODs, attending multi-disciplinary meetings, and liaising with other healthcare professionals to gather relevant information on current medication and compliance status of patients
* Assistance in the review and management of the shared care procedures within the Wigan community teams.
* Contribute to development and implementation of policies and procedures within the department and those impacting across services
* Supervise and train new starters within Wigan communities in the provision of an effective and efficient pharmacy services.

Person Specification
Education/Qualifications
* oBTEC Level 3 Professional Diploma in Pharmaceutical Science and NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Service Skills or equivalent
* oRegistered Pharmacy Technician with GPhC
* ooWillingness to complete BTEC Professional Diploma in Dispensing Checking within agreed time frame
* oEvidence of post-qualification training e.g. Certificate in Management.
* oBTEC Professional Diploma in Dispensing Checking
Experience and knowledge
* oRelevant post qualification experience including recent employment in hospital pharmacy as registered technician
* oHigh level of accuracy in complex dispensing
* oExperience of supervision and training of pharmacy staff
* oExperience in procurement of drugs and computerised ordering systems.
* oHigh Level numeracy and IT Skills including pharmacy software
* oExperience of working in a pharmacy within Mental Health.
* oCurrent knowledge of Mental Health Act, NSF, NICE Guidelines, prescribing and services.
* .Knowledge of Clozapine and CPMS.
