Engineering Trainer (Fluid Power)

Reporting to: Programme Delivery Lead
Location: AMTC, Coventry
Job Purpose
This role manages and develops a comprehensive and innovative teaching and learning experience in practical and theoretical skills aligned with current apprenticeship standards. The trainee will deliver high‑quality electrical bias training to meet awarding body requirements and support the delivery of additional topics as required. The role also develops softer skills, provides constructive feedback, and records learner progress.
Key Activities
* Deliver subjects aligned with individual competencies, focusing on mechanical maintenance and assembly.
* Support delivery at Level 2, 3 and HNC, fostering independent learning and facilitating progression to successful completion of Level 3 apprenticeship and HNC programmes.
* Manage physical learning resources and teaching spaces to meet guided learning hours.
* Create learning content and develop apprenticeship trailblazers’ schemes‑of‑work, integrating industry partners’ training offers.
* Monitor the learning environment, ensuring learner health, safety and welfare in liaison with the designated safeguarding lead.
* Track the progress of all learners, tailoring support to individual needs and ensuring timely completion of the apprenticeship.

Qualifications
Essential
* Industry‑related qualifications such as L3 Apprenticeship, HNC, HND or Degree.
* Functional Skills Level 2 / GCSEs in Maths and English grade C or above.
Desirable
* CAVA or equivalent assessor qualifications.
* Recognised training/teaching qualification.
* Internal quality assurance qualification.
Person Requirements
* High level of engineering knowledge, preferably from several years of industry experience.
* Experience in key competencies such as installing and maintaining fluid power / mechatronic systems.
* Evidence of knowledge in teaching methodologies.
* Ability to communicate technical information at a granular level, scaffolding learning for participants.
* Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
* Creative in learning delivery and continuous improvement of the training offering.
* Builds relationships to incorporate the latest industry standards into the curriculum.
