Randstad is seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join our specialist setting in the HX3 area, focused on supporting children aged 9-19 (KS3) with social, emotional, and mental health needs. As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing individualized support and guidance to students, helping them to access the curriculum, build confidence, and develop essential life skills.

Responsibilities:
- Work closely with classroom teachers and support staff to implement tailored support plans and interventions for students with SEMH needs, ensuring their specific needs are met in the classroom environment.
- Provide one-to-one or small group support to students during lessons, helping to reinforce learning objectives, manage behavior, and promote engagement and participation.
- Assist with the implementation of behavior management strategies and therapeutic interventions, supporting students in developing self-regulation skills and coping mechanisms.
- Foster positive relationships with students, providing emotional support, encouragement, and reassurance to promote their social and emotional well-being.
- Support students with personal care needs, mobility issues, or other additional needs, ensuring their safety, dignity, and independence are maintained at all times.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including teachers, therapists, and external agencies, to share information, monitor progress, and provide holistic support for students.
- Maintain accurate records, including observations, progress notes, and behavior logs, in accordance with school policies and procedures.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children or young people with social, emotional, and mental health needs, preferably in an educational setting.
- Enhanced DBS check on the update service (or willingness to apply for one) is essential.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with students, colleagues, and external stakeholders.
- Empathy, patience, and resilience to work effectively with students facing complex challenges and behaviors.
- Commitment to promoting inclusion, diversity, and equality in the classroom and wider school community.
- Willingness to undergo additional training and professional development as required.
