Rnbt – regional caseworker (scotland)

Helensburgh
Confederation of Service Charities
€32,500 a year
Posted: 2 March
Offer description

Home-based with travel across Scotland and occasionally the North of England
The Royal Naval Benevolent Trust

Permanent
£30,000 – £35,000 plus car allowance & benefits

The RNBT is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Regional Caseworker to support our beneficiaries across Scotland. While the role covers the whole of Scotland, the majority of clients are currently located across the Central Belt, particularly in the Helensburgh and Fife regions.

This is a home-based position, with regular travel within the region. A full driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential.

The Casework Service, launched in April 2025, is a cornerstone of RNBT’s 5-year strategic vision. Our goal is to place Caseworkers directly within the communities they serve, creating local networks of support and building trust within the armed forces and veteran populations.

By working closely with local charities, welfare organisations, and statutory services, the Regional Wellbeing Caseworker helps ensure timely, holistic, and practical support is delivered in a way that empowers individuals and strengthens families.

The RNBT exists to support Royal Navy Ratings and Royal Marines Other Ranks, both serving and served, and their loved ones, through life’s challenges. Established in 1922 under Royal Charter, the Trust continues to provide a lifeline of support: from financial assistance and training opportunities to wellbeing guidance and signposting, as well as accommodation at our Care Homes and Almshouse.

The RNBT has a ‘family-run’ feel and we have carefully created a supportive, friendly and close-knit team, making it a unique and very special place to work.

Key Responsibilities

As a Regional Wellbeing Caseworker (RWC), you’ll provide frontline welfare support to serving and former Royal Navy and Royal Marines personnel and their families. You’ll be the first point of contact for many who are experiencing crisis, distress, or financial difficulty.

This is a community-based role requiring regular travel within your allocated region and occasional home visits. You’ll build meaningful relationships, assess needs with empathy, and help individuals access financial assistance and wider holistic support.

You’ll also act as a connector, linking people with local services and ensuring they don’t face their challenges alone. Above all, you’ll be a compassionate listener and a dependable advocate for our beneficiaries.

* Raise applications for financial assistance using MOSAIC CMS and Lightning Reach.
* Assess needs through home visits and raise applications for financial assistance requests.
* Provide Holistic, Person‑Centred Care
o Offer tailored advice and guidance, signposting and referring to other organisations for housing, mental health, or debt management support.
o Liaise with multi‑disciplinary agencies as required.
* Build Local Presence & Partnerships
o Maintain visibility and engagement in Armed Forces, Veterans’, and family hubs and organisations across your region.
o Develop strong working relationships with local support charities, councils, and community stakeholders.
* Maintain Ongoing Support & Evaluation
o Conduct follow‑up contact and regular ONS 4 wellbeing surveys to measure outcomes and identify ongoing needs.
o Ensure feedback loops are closed and support remains relevant.
* Compliance & Record Keeping
o Record all interactions securely, maintaining GDPR‑compliant records and adhering to RNBT’s Casework Manual.
o Keep personal training and skills up to date.
* Community Engagement & Events
o Represent RNBT at relevant events including Armed Forces Day, family fun days, and local community gatherings.

Occasionally support other RNBT initiatives and projects where needed.

What We Offer

In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a generous suite of benefits to our employees including:

* 29 days annual leave plus public holidays
* Cycle to work scheme
* Eligible for blue light card
* A values‑driven culture and the opportunity to make a meaningful difference

A full job description is available on request.
