Senior Technical Leader – HV Power Systems
About the Role:
A global engineering consultancy is seeking a Senior Technical Leader to join its High Voltage team. The role focuses on leading technical delivery, supporting business growth, and managing complex power systems projects across the UKIMEA region. The team provides multi-disciplinary design and advisory services to utilities, renewable energy developers, industrial clients, and public sector organisations.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead technical delivery of HV projects, ensuring high standards across design, studies, and client solutions.
* Manage, mentor, and develop a team of engineers, overseeing resource allocation and project priorities.
* Act as Line Manager: set objectives, review performance, and support professional development.
* Take ownership of project delivery, ensuring milestones, budgets, and quality targets are met.
* Contribute to strategic planning, business development, and client relationship management.
* Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams and stakeholders across technical and commercial domains.
* Travel within the UK and internationally as required to support project delivery.
Candidate Profile:
* Experienced in delivering specialist power system studies at transmission and distribution levels, including HVDC and renewable energy projects.
* Able to provide technical leadership while remaining hands-on with modelling, analysis, and project delivery.
* Strong knowledge of UK grid connection processes and power system standards.
* Effective communicator with a proven track record in consultancy, OEM, or utility environments.
Qualifications & Skills:
* Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related discipline.
* Chartered Engineer (CEng) or equivalent professional recognition preferred.
* Proficient with power system analysis software (e.g., PSS/E, PowerFactory, ETAP, PSCAD, EMTP).
* Experienced in steady-state, dynamic, and transient studies, protection coordination, insulation and earthing design, and system modelling.
* Leadership and team management experience, with the ability to mentor and develop technical staff.
