Satash Community Care Project is currently recruiting for a Senior Support Worker / Senior Care Worker role with an immediate start in the South Ockendon area. We are looking for reliable, dedicated staff who can offer personalised support and care services to our highly vulnerable children and young adults.
Job Role / Responsibilities
1. The senior support worker has responsibility for a cluster of care workers, typically between one to three support workers.
2. Duties include supervising staff and volunteers, managing their performance, training and mentoring new staff, and delegating works and duties to the team.
3. Support and mentor challenging and vulnerable young people to achieve their maximum potential through quality services. Safeguarding vulnerable adults, children and promoting their welfare is paramount.
4. Provide appropriate support for a range of vulnerable service users with learning disabilities, complex needs, challenging behaviour and autistic spectrum disorder both at home and in the community.
5. Assist with the professional development of the team.
6. Support service users to plan and engage in activities in line with their individualised programme which could include holidays, social & religious events, sporting activities and education.
7. Manage challenging behaviour, provide advice and emotional support.
8. Work with the manager to identify areas that need change or improvement in current practice and support change when areas of concern are highlighted.
9. Carry out general care duties, including:
* Ensuring all aspects of care and support to the service users are maintained at a consistently high level.
* Assisting and enabling service users with all aspects of personal care (to dress, undress, wash, use the toilet and bath).
* Completing all required documents/books including any health folders.
* Dealing with sickness cover and ensuring minimum staffing level is maintained at all times.
* Undertaking cleaning and domestic duties including meal preparation.
* Assisting with service users' overall safety, comfort and wellbeing.
* Administration of medication, re‑ordering and accurate record keeping.
* Helping plan the daily activities, providing interest and activities to stimulate and engage the service user.

Requirements
* Minimum qualification of NVQ/QCF Level 2 in Health and Social Care or working towards QCF Level 3 in Children and Young People.
* Proof of eligibility to work in the UK.
* Full UK driving licence essential.
* Must be respectful, articulate and sensitive in style of communication.
* Motivated towards excellence and improvement of personal performance with a can‑do attitude.
* Flexibility to work on rolling shift patterns; daytime and waking‑night shifts across all days of the week may be required.
* Must be able to use Microsoft Office and produce report writing.
