The Prison Psychological Therapies Service in NHS Forth Valley is looking for a clinical/counselling psychologist to join the NHS Forth Valley Prison Healthcare team. This will involve providing highly specialised clinical interventions and assessments for mental health difficulties to complex individuals and also sharing formulations to inform wider team management of patients. It is expected that the post holder will contribute to the training of staff working with the above client group in the context of health, social work and the Scottish Prison Service. There are opportunities to provide supervision, reflective practice and to contribute to multi-disciplinary working across three national prisons.
The post will be based between HMP & YOI Stirling, HMP Glenochil and HMP & YOI Polmont.
The NHS Forensic Psychology Service in Forth Valley is part of the wider Psychological Services and there are fantastic opportunities for continuing professional development, support from other colleagues, reflective practice and to have opportunities to contribute to service development. The department places a strong emphasis on the importance of staff well-being and this is evident in various projects and support groups within the department and wider Psychological Services.
The wider Forensic Psychology Service covers the whole of Forth Valley and includes prison mental health; inpatient; community and MAPPA. We also support trainee clinical psychologists from the University of Edinburgh and there are opportunities to be involved in supervising trainees and assistant psychologists. We are a friendly and welcoming team and look forward to welcoming new members to our service.
Ability and willingness to travel throughout the area of service delivery is essential for this post.
