Role Summary
Royal Devon Hospitals Charity supports patients, families and staff across North, Mid and Eastern Devon by funding projects and enhancements that go beyond core NHS provision.
This is an exciting opportunity to join Royal Devon Hospitals Charity as a Senior Individual Giving and Legacy Officer in a newly created role, playing a key part in shaping and growing sustainable income from individual supporters. The role offers the opportunity to lead high‑quality, insight‑led fundraising campaigns, develop Individual Giving, In Memory and Legacy activity from the ground up, and build long‑term supporter relationships that directly benefit patients and services. It is a strategic, delivery‑focused position with a high degree of autonomy and the opportunity to make a lasting impact across a large and diverse region.
About the Role
As our Senior Individual Giving and Legacy Officer you will take the lead in developing and delivering Individual Giving, In Memory and Legacy fundraising across the charity. This newly created role offers a unique opportunity to build and shape this area of fundraising from the ground up, establishing strong foundations, systems and supporter journeys that will support long‑term growth.
With a strong marketing and campaign focus, you will design and deliver engaging, multi‑channel fundraising campaigns, develop compelling communications and use data and insight to grow income and supporter retention. Working closely with the Charity Leadership Team and marketing colleagues, you will help define the charity’s approach to individual supporter fundraising and translate strategy into high‑quality delivery.
The role also includes managing legacy income and a caseload of estates, working sensitively and professionally with solicitors, executors and bereaved families. You will ensure all activity is delivered with empathy, integrity and in line with best practice.
This is a hybrid role, with a base at either North Devon District Hospital or the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital, and the flexibility to work from home. You will work across North, Mid and Eastern Devon, collaborating with colleagues across sites and building relationships across the wider Trust.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with proven experience of delivering successful Individual Giving campaigns, who is confident working with autonomy and motivated by building something new that will have a lasting impact on local healthcare.
Working Pattern
37.5 hours per week. Flexibility required due to occasional evening and weekend events; time off in lieu provided in line with Trust policy.
