Overview
The Publishing Project Editor reports to the Publishing Manager in the Commerce and Visitor Experience team. This role involves managing the project lifecycle for a range of publishing projects, including collections titles, guidebooks, children's titles, exhibition catalogues and digital products. Key responsibilities include overseeing editorial, design, proofreading and production stages, managing relationships with freelance designers and editors, liaising with printers and ensuring projects remain on budget.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage editorial, design, proofreading and production stages of publishing projects.
* Oversee relationships with freelance designers and editors and liaise with printers.
* Manage project budgets, negotiate image rights, editorial or design fees, and other costs.
* Ensure projects finish within budget and on schedule.
Qualifications
* Proven experience working on publishing projects, ideally illustrated books.
* Experience in copy‑editing, proofreading and writing copy.
* Awareness of intellectual property rights and strong copyright knowledge.
* Clear and assertive communication skills, good commercial awareness.
* Attention to detail and ability to prioritise a varied, demanding workload.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, databases, archives or DAMS.
About the Organisation
Royal Museums Greenwich comprises the National Maritime Museum, Cutty Sark, the Royal Observatory and the Queen’s House. These sites share a common purpose of serving communities through sharing collections and expertise, located on the Maritime Greenwich World Heritage site with supporting operations in the Prince Philip Maritime Collections Centre, the Brass Foundry and administrative offices in Greenwich.

Employment Details
This is a full‑time, permanent role in Band 5 – Management and Proficient Specialists. Core hours are 36 per week, 9 am‑5 pm, Monday to Friday, with an additional hour as agreed. Salary: £36,900 per annum.
