Posted: 22 August
Offer description

A Day Coach at this SuperCare home in Eastbourne provides daily care, encouragement, and stability for children and young people who present with complex learning disabilities and associated conditions/syndromes such as: Smith-Magenis Syndrome, congenital hypopituitarism, global developmental delay, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), sensory processing differences, SEMH difficulties, and attachment-related trauma.

The home is rated "Good" by Ofsted and is looking to continue its journey towards "Outstanding".
This isn't just a job - it's about being part of a team of adults that helps children feel safe, supported, and able to thrive, even when life has given them a difficult start.

What You'll Do

No two days are the same in this home however there are some strong routines. We look for all adults in our homes to be able to support as below:

* Be a consistent, calm presence as children navigate daily routines like school preparation, therapy, mealtimes, and play.
* Use calming, trauma-informed strategies to support children through impulsivity, aggression, self-injury, or emotional shutdowns.
* Help young people explore the world around them - joining them in community activities, hobbies, and creative outlets.
* Notice the small wins: a smile, a conversation, a safe risk - and celebrate progress.
* Work closely with teachers, therapists, and health teams to provide wraparound care.
* Model patience, warmth, and resilience - so children see that adults can be trusted, no matter what.

What We're Looking For:

We're looking for adults with some previous experience supporting young people with complex needs, ideally in a care setting:

* Experience in SEN, residential care, or youth support is helpful - but above all, we value people who are resilient, patient, and reflective.
* You can remain calm in moments of chaos, supporting behaviours without taking them personally.
* You're curious, open to learning about rare genetic syndromes and medical needs, and confident asking questions.
* You understand that consistency, boundaries, and empathy are the foundation of safe relationships.

Experienced candidates would also bring working knowledge of supporting developmental trauma, attachment difficulties, sensory processing difficulties, complex medical needs.

The young people in this home are incredibly energetic and active! Therefore you should be able to physically and mentally engage in a wide range of activities.
