Diagnostic Radiographer (West Berkshire Community Hospital)
An opportunity for a full‑time Band 6 Radiographer based at West Berkshire Community Hospital in Newbury, part of the Royal Berkshire NHS Trust. The post holder will work as part of the Community Imaging Team delivering plain film, CT and Dexa imaging services to walk‑in GP referrals, outpatients, inpatients, and the Minor Injury Unit. The role requires state registration (DCR(R) or equivalent), current CPD activity and Band 6 level competence. Part‑time and job‑share arrangements may be considered.
Job responsibilities
* Provide services primarily at West Berkshire Community Hospital, with possible work at other Trust sites.
* Rotate through CT, plain film and Dexa after appropriate training and competency assessment.
* Perform cannulation for intravenous contrast following Trust policy.
* Maintain high standards of technique and patient positioning, keeping radiation doses to a minimum using ALARP principles.
* Assess and justify referrals under IRR17/IR(Me)R 2017, including complex or acute cases.
* Make autonomous decisions regarding examination appropriateness and liaise with Consultant Radiologists on optimum technique.
* Support and supervise junior staff, serving as a role model.
* Manage accurate patient records, including radiation dose and exposure factors.
* Participate in the Quality Assurance equipment testing programme.
* Use RIS for patient registration, ordering and scheduling; use PACS to review images and reports.
* Take an active part in departmental shift and weekend rotas.
Skills
* State registration with the Health & Care Professions Council.
* Post‑graduate diploma or equivalent postgraduate experience.
Experience
* Recent and extensive post‑registration experience at Band 5.
* Proven clinical experience across a range of radiographic equipment and techniques.
* Experience of staff supervision and/or training.
* Proven clinical experience in CT imaging or Dexa.

Pay: £39,959 to £48,117 per annum (pro rata for part‑time candidates).
