Job Description
3. Provide comprehensive secretarial support to conveyancing solicitors and fee earners
4. Prepare legal documents such as contracts, transfers, and completion statements
5. Handle telephone, email, and in-person enquiries from clients, solicitors, estate agents, and other third parties
6. Open, manage, and close client files in accordance with internal procedures
7. Conduct online searches (e.g., Land Registry, AML checks) and complete Stamp Duty Land Tax (SDLT) returns
8. Prepare bills and liaise with the accounts department regarding client payments
9. Manage the diary and schedule appointments, meetings, and deadlines
10. File correspondence and documents accurately, maintaining a well-organized filing system (physical and digital)
11. Ensure compliance with all regulatory and legal requirements, including confidentiality and data protection
The Successful Applicant
12. Proven experience as a legal secretary, preferably in a conveyancing or property law department
13. Strong working knowledge of the conveyancing process from instruction to post-completion
14. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and legal case management software
15. Excellent typing, communication, and organizational skills
16. Ability to work independently and as part of a team
17. Attention to detail and high levels of accuracy
18. Professional, polite, and client-focused approach
