We are seeking a Senior Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Manager to join our growing team in the Yorkshire & North East region. This is a key leadership role, responsible for driving a culture of safety, compliance, and continuous improvement across all projects. The successful candidate will act as a regional lead – collaborating with project teams, senior management, and external stakeholders to ensure Caddick remains at the forefront of safety excellence.
What You’ll Do
* Lead and promote a proactive, positive health and safety culture across all projects in the region.
* Implement and manage the Group Health, Safety and Environmental Management System in line with ISO 45001 accreditation.
* Support project teams to achieve the highest safety standards throughout all phases of project delivery.
* Regularly visit live sites to validate compliance, monitor performance, and provide practical guidance.
* Report health and safety performance to the Head of SHEQ and Regional Director using data‑led insights and analytics.
* Drive a “Zero Harm” approach across all operations and continuously identify opportunities for improvement.
* Lead or assist in accident and incident investigations, ensuring reports and corrective actions are completed and shared effectively.
* Provide expert advice on the Construction (Design & Management) Regulations 2015 and all relevant legislation.
* Support tendering and work‑winning activities, including client presentations and submissions.
* Deliver in‑house training and contribute to knowledge‑sharing initiatives across the business.
* Collaborate with HR and SHEQ teams to support health, safety and wellbeing training programmes.
* Represent Caddick at external HSE forums, promoting the company’s commitment to best practice and innovation.
What We’re Looking For
Skills and Experience
* Current experience as a HSE Manager within the construction industry working for a Main Contractor.
* Strong working knowledge of construction methods, temporary works, and associated risks.
* Experience managing HSE across multiple live projects or regions.
* Proven ability to investigate incidents and liaise with statutory agencies.
* Experience developing and maintaining health and safety management systems.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
* Experience mentoring and developing HSE teams.
Qualifications
* Chartered Member of IOSH (or equivalent).
* NEBOSH National Diploma or Construction Certificate (or equivalent).
* Degree in Construction Management or a related discipline (desirable).
* Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regionally.
