About the role
We are a dynamic startup online pharmacy specialising in weight loss medications. We are looking for a Responsible Pharmacist to join our team and help establish safe, efficient, and patient-focused services. As the Responsible Pharmacist, you will oversee the safe and compliant running of the pharmacy, dispensing and checking prescriptions, and ensuring that all pharmacy activities comply with GPhC standards and regulatory requirements. Training will be provided, and you will have the opportunity to help shape SOPs, processes, and patient care protocols.
Key responsibilities
· Fulfil the role of Responsible Pharmacist in accordance with the GPhC standards.
· Ensure the safe and accurate dispensing and checking of prescriptions, particularly for weight loss medications prescribed by pharmacist prescribers.
· Conduct clinical checks on prescriptions to verify appropriateness, contraindications, and patient safety prior to supply.
· Supervise pharmacy operations, including dispensing, accuracy checking, cold chain management, and patient communications, until additional staff are employed.
· Maintain and monitor pharmacy records
· Ensure compliance with all SOPs, including data handling, incident reporting, safeguarding, and continuity of supply.
· Participate in the review and development of SOPs, providing clinical insight and feedback to ensure safe and efficient operations.
· Support staff training and mentoring as the team grows, ensuring all delegated tasks are performed competently and safely.
· Manage patient queries in a professional manner, escalating clinical concerns to the Superintendent Pharmacist when necessary.
· Participate in audits, stock management, and governance activities to ensure continuous improvement and regulatory compliance.
Requirements
Essential:
· Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
· Minimum 2 years post-registration experience in a UK pharmacy setting.
· Strong knowledge of pharmacy legislation, GPhC standards, and professional ethics.
· Experience in dispensing, clinical checking, and patient counselling.
· Must be able to work independently, prioritise tasks, and manage multiple responsibilities.
· Up to date DBS
Desirable:
· Previous experience with online or distance-selling pharmacy operations.
· Experience in weight loss medicines or clinical weight management services.
Hours
Part-time: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, 9:00–17:00.

Pay: £39,888.99-£58,157.24 per year
Expected hours: 24 – 36 per week
