Job Title: Mechanical Maintenance Engineer Location: Winsford, Cheshire Working Hours: Monday – Thursday, 07:00 – 17:00 (4-day working week) £35,000 - £38,000 DOE The Role We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Engineer with a strong mechanical bias to join our engineering team. The role will focus on maintaining and improving high-speed production and packaging equipment, particularly filling lines, cappers, and labelling machinery. This is a hands-on role where you will be responsible for minimising downtime, carrying out planned and reactive maintenance, and supporting continuous improvement projects to ensure reliable and efficient production output. Key Responsibilities Carry out planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and reactive repairs on production machinery, with a focus on filling, capping, and labelling equipment Diagnose and resolve mechanical faults quickly to minimise downtime Support improvements in line efficiency and reliability through engineering solutions Work closely with production teams to ensure machinery is operating to required standards Assist with machinery installations, modifications, and upgrades Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities Adhere to all health & safety and compliance requirements Key Skills & Experience Proven experience as a Maintenance Engineer in a manufacturing environment (ideally FMCG, food, beverage, or packaging) Strong mechanical engineering skills – pneumatics, hydraulics, gearboxes, conveyors, and automated packaging machinery Hands-on experience with filling, capping, and labelling equipment is highly desirable Ability to fault-find and carry out repairs under pressure Basic electrical knowledge would be beneficial but not essential Strong team player with good communication skills What's on Offer Competitive salary (dependent on experience). 4-day working week (Monday – Thursday, 07:00 – 17:00).
