Advanced Rheumatology Physiotherapist - Non UK residents

As clinical lead for the Rheumatology Team, you will oversee planning, delivery and evaluation of physiotherapy services, managing the clinical caseload and leading the team.
You will act as an autonomous practitioner, providing highly specialised assessment, treatment and advice to patients and advising the wider speciality team.
You will supervise and guide specialist physiotherapists, physiotherapists, assistants and students, ensuring appropriate clinical practice and professional development.
You will take a leading role in training the physiotherapy team and support staff development.
Main duties of the job
* Undertake comprehensive and highly specialised assessment of complex rheumatology cases, using advanced clinical reasoning skills.
* Formulate individual treatment plans based on evidence‑based practice.
* Ensure privacy, dignity and individuality of patients are respected during treatment.
* Monitor appropriateness of referrals to the Rheumatology Physiotherapy Team.
* Provide specialist advice, assistance and education to physiotherapists, assistants and students.
* Accept patients transferred from other team members where higher expertise is required.
* Implement and review clinical standards to maintain high level of patient care.
* Supervise and support specialist physiotherapists, physiotherapists, assistants and clerical staff.
* Maintain clinical practice standards for physiotherapy assistants and students under your supervision.
* Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and provide specialist advice on patient care.

University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Trust operates from three main hospitals—Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal—as well as community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital, GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and RLI provide full emergency departments, critical care and consultant‑led services. WGH offers an urgent treatment centre and outpatient, diagnostic, therapeutic, day‑case and inpatient surgery services. Community facilities also provide outreach and diagnostics across Morecambe Bay.
Person Specification
Education and qualifications
* Health and Care Professions Council registered physiotherapist
* Honours degree or equivalent in physiotherapy
* Post‑graduate training to master’s level or equivalent in a specialist field
* Membership of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy
Experience
* Clinical experience working at a senior level in rheumatology
* Advanced and comprehensive knowledge in the field of rheumatology
* Evidence of continual professional development to an advanced level
* Experience of supervising qualified staff, students and assistant staff
Skills, ability and knowledge
* Skills beyond the scope of physiotherapy (e.g., X‑ray/imaging, blood results, prescribing, injections)
* Strong leadership skills
* Ability to meet the physical and psychological requirements of the role
* Ability to travel

Salary
£49,387 to £56,515 a year, pro rata.
