Role and Hours
Ward Administrator
Band 3 - £24,937 - £26,598 per annum pro rata
30 hours per week
Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday - 09:00 - 17:00
Role Purpose
The role of the Ward Administrator requires a passion for making a difference to join our team, helping to ensure the safe and smooth running of services for the people in our care.
Responsibilities
* Provide clerical, administrative and information technology support to nursing and other staff related to the needs of patients within the Unit.
* Work primarily within a designated area/ward, with possible coverage across the Trust to cover short-term absence. Work under the direction of the Admin Area Lead to support the smooth running of the service.
* Skillfully manage all incoming and outgoing telephone calls to the clinical team in a polite and efficient manner; handle enquiries from callers, including high risk, abusive, threatening, depressed, suicidal and vulnerable patients and family/carers; maintain confidentiality at all times in line with Trust policies and procedures.
* Record accurate messages and follow up appropriately in accordance with department guidelines.
* Deal face to face with patients and families/carers seeking further help or information; be aware of patient needs and respond appropriately to those who may be hostile, abusive or aggressive.
* Be responsible for ensuring all correspondence is accurately presented using Trust standard templates in line with Trust policies and procedures.
* Demonstrate full range of administration practices, software programmes and specialised functional terms; be proficient with patient records management, including use of electronic patient record systems, supporting new users and directing them as necessary; complete non-routine tasks daily to meet clinical team needs.
* Operate the Trust’s telephony systems.
