Head of Identity and Access Governance - London (3 days a week) - £120,000-£140,000 + bonus + benefits
La Fosse has partnered with a global FS to hire a Head of Identity and Access Governance into a key leadership role within their security function. This is a strategic hire, focused on shaping the direction of IAM across the business and ensuring identity sits at the heart of their wider Zero Trust strategy.
They already have technical identity capability in place across multiple locations, but what they need now is someone to set the direction. This role will own the IAM strategy, define access governance standards, and bring greater consistency across areas like joiners, movers and leavers, provisioning, and access control. It’s a high-impact role for someone who can bridge strategy, security, risk, and technical delivery.
Responsibilities
* Own and define the international IAM and access governance strategy, aligning it to wider security and Zero Trust objectives.
* Set the direction for how identity and access should evolve across the business, with a focus on governance, control, and risk reduction.
* Establish and maintain access control standards, ensuring they are practical, scalable, and aligned to security and regulatory requirements.
* Work closely with existing Identity and Access teams across multiple regions to guide delivery through influence rather than direct line management.
* Partner with security, platform, and technology stakeholders to ensure IAM controls support both business operations and long-term security goals.
* Provide strategic oversight across key identity capabilities including MFA, authentication, authorisation, and privileged access considerations.
* Identify gaps, prioritise improvements, and help shape the IAM roadmap based on business risk, control maturity, and operational need.
Requirements
* Strong background in identity and access management, with experience leading or shaping IAM strategy in complex environments.
* Deep understanding of identity governance, access management, and access control principles across enterprise organisations.
* Strong technical grounding, with experience across areas such as MFA, Okta, and Entra ID.
* Able to operate at both strategic and technical level, setting direction while engaging credibly with specialist delivery teams.
* Experience working across international or matrixed businesses, influencing multiple teams without relying on direct line management.
* Strong understanding of how IAM supports wider security goals, particularly in relation to Zero Trust and access-related risk reduction.
* Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to challenge, influence, and drive progress at senior level.
