The Division of Accounting and Finance at AMBS is one of the leading, and also one of the largest, accounting and finance units in Europe and the world, with an outstanding track record of excellence in research and teaching. The Division runs single honours BSc degree programmes in Accounting and in Business Accounting. The latter is a collaboration with PwC and the ICAEW and includes work placement at PwC and a fast track to the ICAEW qualification. The Division also makes significant contributions to AMBS’ undergraduate programmes in management and to a number of undergraduate programmes in accounting and finance run in conjunction with the School of Social Sciences. At the postgraduate level the Division offers a wide-ranging set of specialist MSc degree programmes in accounting and finance as well as contributing to MBA, executive education, and post graduate research programmes.
The Division is seeking to appoint an outstanding candidate with a Teaching and Scholarship focus at the Lecturer or Senior Lecturer level in Accounting. We especially welcome candidates with expertise to teach financial reporting, management accounting, taxation, and/or auditing, hold industry experience, and are familiar with accreditation and professional body examinations.
This post requires the successful candidate to:
* Contribute to the development and delivery of excellent teaching in and across the general area of accounting, with a commitment to scholarship.
* Contribute to engagement activities in the Division, when relevant. We are particularly interested in applicants with the potential to contribute to the Division’s outreach activities in terms of establishing, developing and maintaining links with industry.
* Contribute to the pastoral and academic supervision of students.
* Undertake other academic and administrative duties as required by the Head of Division.
For senior lecturer additionally:
* Experience of academic leadership, within programme areas or as programme director or equivalent.
Applicants must hold a relevant doctoral degree and/or a professional accounting qualification, have demonstrable experience of high-quality teaching and excellent oral and written communication skills.
